    Housing Information
    Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH) gives active service members two options for housing; living on base or finding a home off-base within the community.

    • Once you have orders to move, contact the Housing Management Office  (580) 213-5434/7259. They can answer all of your housing questions and provide services such as referrals, resolving tenant-landlord disputes, and guidance for entering lease agreements.

    • On-base housing for Vance AFB is privatized and provided by Hunt Military Communities  (888) 366-1238, which offers 3-4 bedroom single family homes based on rank and family size. Home amenities may include: garage, centeral AC, free lawn care and washer/dryer hookups. The community features a basketball and tennis court, tot lots, picnic areas and more.

    Surrounding Areas
    The closest major city to Vance AFB is Enid, Oklahoma, a small city with about 50,000 people. There are several nearby small communities of less than a thousand people; the closest to base is Waukomis, with about 1,200 people. Downtown Enid to Vance take about 14 minutes to commute. The local economy is mostly agriculture and farm support businesses, along with military support business and industry, and oil industry. Enid is a mid-sized city in north-central Oklahoma, about an hour and a half north of Oklahoma City, and two hours west of Tulsa. Enid is the Wheat Capital of the US, with more grain storage than anywhere in the US. The area is humid and warm in summer, and cold and dry in winter. Springs and summers have thunderstorms, including occasional tornadoes.

    About the Base
    Vance Air Force Base is home to the 71st Flying Training Wing which is a part of the Air Education and Training Command. The wing is responsible for training all branches of the Armed Forces on the T-1A Jayhawk, T-6A Texan, and T-38 Talon aircraft. Vance is located near Enid, Oklahoma.
